Ministries

The people of Zion serve others in many and various ways. Our outreach ministries and donations efforts are coordinated through the Social Ministry Committee, primarily for the benefit of the medical clinic and outreach of Christ Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, Bethesda Mission, Harrisburg, the CROP Walk, and the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank.

Donations for Christ Lutheran Church and Bethesda Mission, Harrisburg

A blanket drive is held beginning the first Sunday in October through the Sunday before Thanksgiving in November. Blankets are divided between the two organizations. In 2023 we delivered 93 blankets to these organizations.

During the Season of Lent the focus is on socks which are divided between the two organizations. So far we have collected 263 pairs of socks, while in 2022 and 2023 we have collected and delivered 203 hats, 110 gloves and 26 scarfs.

Two blood drives are planned each year for church members and others to donate pints of blood. The drives are held on Sunday mornings during worship in Leatherman Hall, in the lower level of the church.
